Looking for a job and failing at each corner? Well whatever you do do NOT give up!

I must admit, one of the hardest thing in life is to live through the unemployment days of your life. Yeah, you know what I am talking about.

We have all been there, and many of us have lived through it. Amazingly.

For me, I have yet to survive the crisis--- but no doubt the time has come for me to - gulped - get myself out there and sell myself for a days living. I know, I know. It is hard to find a job while studying. I am currently an University student on my second year, though many have told me that it is okay to sit back and relax for the next couple of years, it is undeniable that without experience to back you up, your education may disintegrate to a pile of dust for all anyone care.

So, what do you do to live through the whole recruitment process? You sit back comfortably in your seat, and write up a perfect resume. You spice up yourself with a written cover letter. You post out the documents, apply through online career websites (such as Seek.com.au for Australians), reply to newspaper ads, make phone calls and when the time comes: you get an interview. Ahhh, the interview, the process where failing is so easy to do. Not to mention you be competing with a few other number of applicants-- what a vicious cycle Looking For a Job could be.

So, what do you do when you fail fail fail? Well first off, remember that you are not alone. There are people out there whom have been where you are, they tasted the sweat, they felt the depression creaking into their heads, they have looked through nooks and crannies of their resume questioning whether something is wrong. Some might even concluded that the world is out to get them. And you know what some of them also have done? They looked themselves in the mirror and convinced themselves NOT to give up. That might of sounded silly to you, but it made sense to me. And I also know how hard that is to do: to continue failing.

But we are who we are. We are humans with greedy needs, we are stubborn from head to toes, we are materialistic but yet says otherwise, and as humans we are who we are. So as humans, we also learn from our mistakes. When we fail, we learn. Some might take a longer time to learn through their mistakes, but we do learn.

And after all that failing, all that learning, all that courage for not giving up, all that pride, and all that accumulated endurance, we will succeed one day, and all that will be priceless for your future.

No, I am not going mushy on you - sniff - I am just stating the truth. When you give up, you lose. When you continue to walk forward, you will win - though that takes patience, but winning is still winning.

Note:
  • Statistically, 1 out of 11 resumes you sent out will be read and carefully considered.
  • On average when going for an interview, you be competing with 4 candidates.
  • It is better to be over dressed than to undressed.
  • You can survive without make up and perfume at a job interview.
  • Don't be afraid to be different (I brought a sideshow presentation to the interview. I didnt get the job but I did gave myself a pat on the shoulder).
