[OtherReview] Jenny Sherwood Massage Workshop ►ZERO STAR◄

Company
Jenny Sherwood Massage Workshop - South Perth
Name of person I dealed with
Jenny
Coupon
Scoopon: Brought a coupon $49 (usually $250) for half day massage workshop
Stars
ZERO

PRO:
  • Would have been good chance to learn new things – but did not went so good

CON: Oh boy, where do I start?
  • Class is packed, 30 people in small room on hot day to learn massage - Jenny sure did over crowded the classroom. Usually it would be 10 people per class, so that everyone can learn and have fair time - but no, Jenny packed 30 people in 1 class to get the job done faster - but that just lower quality indefinitely.
  • She seemed pretty judgmental, did not make me feel good at all
  • I called in 2 months before expiry date, only to be offered 2 different class timetable. She couldve have more classes opening since so many vouchers were sold for this but I guess that would've mean she took that extra step and it was obvious she did not want to take that step
  • Her massage teaching was so so. She gave everyone a sheet of paper with basic  massage techniques (which I couldve googled but oh well, no biggie) then she showed us basic posture to help with our back (took 1 hour, if it was a smaller class of 10, it couldve taken half that time), she then got 2 massage table out and for next 2 hours we were to massage like 6 different people (wow, sweet [insert sarcastic tone here]) and at the end we massaged the person next to us for 15 minutes, and then I get my 15 minute massage. DONE!

CON 2: My friend's experience
  • If everything is not bad enough, my friend purchased the same coupon but booked on different day than me.
  • The coupon said must contact Jenny 3 days before it expires, and my friend contacted Jenny 1 whole month before it expired! Yet Jenny was all like "Sorry too late, no more class available" - does that sound fair? My friend paid for the coupon, contacted Jenny in fair time (1 month when only 3 days was necessary) only to be told that there are no more classes available? When she stood up for her right, Jenny said ok, she will do 1 class since so many people contacted in so late (?? - 1 month is not late, its just her not having more classes open. I contacted 2 months before and was offered only 2 class availability) jenny is willing to have 1 more class - at a price of $39 each from everyone --- thats right people, Jenny is saying to have 1 more class (when everyone are entitled to it) they need to pay her $39 extra (that is outside the $49 for the coupon deal at Scoopon).
  • In total my friend (and the other poor unfortunate people of 15 or so) need to pay $49+$39 = $88 bucks, just cause little Jenny didnt want to accommodate everyone for the class availability. Talk about professionalism.

OVERALL:
Bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad x infinity. I would never want to return to see jenny's face again. The techniques she taught was so basic that I went home learning nothing new. I was not happy with Jenny's attitude, and she lacked professionalism. To make people pay extra $39 just because that contacted her "too late" (1 month ahead is not too late little princess) was very unfair. The worst part? She and her deal is back on scoopon, taking more people hard earn money - that just aint right. Please everyone, please stay away from Jenny and her Massage workshop located on Canning Highway. Please!!

[Food] Joy Cafe in Northbridge ♥♥♥♥

Self proclaiming they are the ONLY authentic Hong Kong restaurant in perth. I do not know much about that but I do know I am a returning customer~~

PRO:
Their food is simple.
Really good price.
Have gone there a few times and the service is If not a A then a B++.
Their food may not be the best, but it is unique enough for me to come back for more!
They have vouchers for the meals
The Red bean Pancake topped with caramel ice cream as desert is unique and tasty!
Good to go with family and friends, or with your partner
Many seating and comfy chairs/couch
Open from 11am to 10pm, thats cool~

CON:
Not all food is tasty, have to watch what to order
It appears their chef loves to add salt to the dishes, since all the dishes Ive eaten are quite salty

OVERALL:

[Food] Volcanic Stone in East Perth ♥♥1/2

Volcanic Stone is a place where you can grill your own meat on a stone that is heated to 400c. They do not add a bunch of marinate sauce on their food - this means the customers can get the fresh taste of the meat.

♥♥♥
Customer Service.
Every staff member there is not good with English, they barely understand me - I had to point to the dish in the menu for them to know what I want. Would give 2 stars, but gave them extra star because they tried hard to understand me.
Appearance
A stone that you can cook on it by yourself is a good idea, too bad the setting is a drag. the toilet is outside the place, and it is very small and hard to move around. They can do so much better if they try.
♥♥
Price. For a dinner dish of a small steak and 2 prawns = $34. didnt fill me up at all. $10.50 for 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream and syrup - expensive!!
♥♥
Management
They can do so much better. The place would attract many customers if they set the place more welcoming. It is located near a nice lakeside so people would be more than happy to go to Volcanic Stone and take a walk by the Lakeside.
♥♥♥
Outcome (of the service)
Food was the best but was pretty good consider you cook it by yourself and the sauces were nice. My boyfriend likes it too - though he said he would not go there too often cause there are better places out there.
♥♥ 1/5
Overall
2 1/2 is the highest I can give. Not a bad place, but not worth the money and trouble - not to mention they never pick up the phone!!
END NOTE
If you eat alot and/or on tight with money, then this place aint for you. I will not be returning anytime soon. Maybe in 6 months time.

Looking for a job and failing at each corner? Well whatever you do do NOT give up!

I must admit, one of the hardest thing in life is to live through the unemployment days of your life. Yeah, you know what I am talking about.

We have all been there, and many of us have lived through it. Amazingly.

For me, I have yet to survive the crisis--- but no doubt the time has come for me to - gulped - get myself out there and sell myself for a days living. I know, I know. It is hard to find a job while studying. I am currently an University student on my second year, though many have told me that it is okay to sit back and relax for the next couple of years, it is undeniable that without experience to back you up, your education may disintegrate to a pile of dust for all anyone care.

So, what do you do to live through the whole recruitment process? You sit back comfortably in your seat, and write up a perfect resume. You spice up yourself with a written cover letter. You post out the documents, apply through online career websites (such as Seek.com.au for Australians), reply to newspaper ads, make phone calls and when the time comes: you get an interview. Ahhh, the interview, the process where failing is so easy to do. Not to mention you be competing with a few other number of applicants-- what a vicious cycle Looking For a Job could be.

So, what do you do when you fail fail fail? Well first off, remember that you are not alone. There are people out there whom have been where you are, they tasted the sweat, they felt the depression creaking into their heads, they have looked through nooks and crannies of their resume questioning whether something is wrong. Some might even concluded that the world is out to get them. And you know what some of them also have done? They looked themselves in the mirror and convinced themselves NOT to give up. That might of sounded silly to you, but it made sense to me. And I also know how hard that is to do: to continue failing.

But we are who we are. We are humans with greedy needs, we are stubborn from head to toes, we are materialistic but yet says otherwise, and as humans we are who we are. So as humans, we also learn from our mistakes. When we fail, we learn. Some might take a longer time to learn through their mistakes, but we do learn.

And after all that failing, all that learning, all that courage for not giving up, all that pride, and all that accumulated endurance, we will succeed one day, and all that will be priceless for your future.

No, I am not going mushy on you - sniff - I am just stating the truth. When you give up, you lose. When you continue to walk forward, you will win - though that takes patience, but winning is still winning.

Note:
  • Statistically, 1 out of 11 resumes you sent out will be read and carefully considered.
  • On average when going for an interview, you be competing with 4 candidates.
  • It is better to be over dressed than to undressed.
  • You can survive without make up and perfume at a job interview.
  • Don't be afraid to be different (I brought a sideshow presentation to the interview. I didnt get the job but I did gave myself a pat on the shoulder).
